Rev. Paul Hunchak, Rector

Fr. Paul was born in Philadelphia, PA. He grew up attending St. Nicholas Church (1964-1987). The rector at the time was Fr. Vladimir Borichevsky, who later became the Dean of Faculty of St. Tikhon’s Seminary. Fr. Paul graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering (1987) from GMI Engineering and Management Institute (now Kettering University in Flint, MI)., followed by a Master of Divinity from St. Vladimir’s Seminary (1990). He began working at General Motors while at GMI (1982-1987), then served as Assistant to the Chancellor of the OCA (1990-2000), where he worked closely with Fr. Leonid  (Kishkovsky). In 2000 he became Manager of Corporate Giving at MetLife, followed by Director of Visitor Services, Programs, and Exhibits (2001) at Old Westbury Gardens, where he remains today.

Sophie Pompea

Sophie Pompea, our choir conductor, has sung in choir for over sixty years. She began singing in the choir of Our Lady of Kazan when she was 9 years old. After college while living in New York City, she was part of the Synod choir at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Sign. Upon moving to Long Island, she was part of the choir of the church of the Intercession of the Holy Virgin and St. Sergius in Glen Cove where she also conducted the choir for a few years.
